...Chandana Manivathil...

Hi Friends,
This is a very beautiful song of Raveendran Mashu, Backed with Ezhacheri Ramachandran's Lyrics and the sweet voice of G Venugopal. The song is "Chandana Manivathil" from the film Marikkunnilla njan. The song is done in the Ragam "Hindolam" which is my favourite ragam. And its Raveendran Master who first showed the courage to do a film song in Hindolam.
Ezhacheri Ramachandran, the famous poet of Kerala has given such a beautiful lyric for this song. The lyrics is filled with romance, warmth and natural charm.

Raveendran, The Great Genious - Malayalam film music has witnessed a few geniuses when it comes to music. If the colossus of the old era was G.Devarajan, the medieval era through the 90s was dominated by Raveendran with his immeasurable contributions to malayalam film music. His classical songs were rigorous, melodies were mellifluous and orchestration was ecstatic. He made songs which truly needed geniuses or infinitely trained voices – Dr.K J Yesudas and Chitra of course being his most potent weapons in the arsenal. His Melodies Marked A new era in malayalam music history. His First song itself is an example (Tharake from Choola). He made world hear Dasettan's voice in a new style ie. to the base of his sound. He used the base pitch aswellas top pitch of Dasettan.A typical example being Harimuraliravam from Aram Thampuran. There Was an invisible bond between his music and Dasettan's voice. He used to say tht "I'll Stop Composing Music If Dasettan Stop His Singing ".But God Done it in the other way.
Be it Pramadhavanam to touch your soul in the subtlest way, or Ramakatha gaanalayam torching the soul in with the scorching pace, or devasabathalam where Hindustani meets Carnatic, or Gopika Vasantham where shaNmukapriya interlaces KJY and Chitra to emote love through Gowthami and Mohanlal, or the lilting Edho nidrathan” to lull you into a soothing sleep or numerous other compositions which are difficult to list – He has stamped his class all over. A true creation. As Kulathuppuzha Ravi(as he was called in his early ages) set off to Madras, for oppurtunities, the life was not smooth there. He wandered a lot to get a chance as a playback singer without even food for days.He used to say tht His best friends in Madras city were the Public Taps In the city. This reveals the tragic situations he had to face during tht time. And he got some oppurtunities as playback singer, unfortunately none clicked tht much.He again bgan to struggle. At tht time he saw Dasettan ,as usual askd 4 a chance. At tht time Dasettan was looking 4 a new music director for a new film Choola. He askd young Ravi whether he could try composing. He accepted and made the songs in choola the first one being Thaarake. It Marked the beginning of new era in malayalam melody history. And now Dasettan said him."You Are Not A Singer Who Sings The Songs Tht Some One Has Creator. But You Are More Suited As A Creator Of Music." Dasettan's prediction was shown true by the further growth of Raveendran (As he changed his name as Dasettan Askd him to do tht ).He became the Emperor Of Melody. After Devarajan Master , No Other Music Director Has Got This Much Appreciation From People From All Sorts Of Life. From His first film Choola to his last film Vadakkunnadhan , no song can b compared with the other each one being better than the other. He used to find varieties in each of his works. He has got Kerala State Awards for Best Music Director several times for films such as Rajasilpi,Nandanam,Bharatham , His Hishness Abdulla etc. And many other recognitions also.3rd March 2005, is a day which is being cursed by Malayalam music lovers all over the world. That day witnessed the demise of the great Master.Raveendran Master attained the eternal blis in music, leaving the hearts which love him, love his music , in deep sorrow. But his spiritual presence is in the hearts of Music lovers world wide through his songs."The Almighty Has Given Me The Talent In Abundance And My Sole Aim Is To Nurture It So That I Can Continue To Make Music Which Is Appealing To The Masses.".He Literally Made This Message Implemented In His LIfe In Full Swing. His Songs Has Become A Burning Memory In Our Hearts.May He Take Re-Birth For Giving Us That Splendid Gush Of Music Once More. Not One,Many Births.

Listen to some of Mashu's songs
G Venugopal,Malayalee's Venu Chettan, the name itself invokes memories of lilting music and haunting melody. With unbelievably rich voice and a singing quality filled with depth and warmth, G Venugopal has in a short span of time made a mark as a singer par excellance.G Venugopal started his singing career in the film "Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare"(1987) and since then has sung in more than 280 films and has over 250 cassettes to his credit. The many awards he has won including the Best Playback Singer (Kerala State) which he has won thrice, the Film Critics award and the Kerala Kaumudi Gallop Poll award (again twice) further reiterates his popular appeal. The most recent recognition of his melodious voice is the Kerala State award for Best Playback singer(2004) for the song "aadedee--aadaadedee" from the film "Ullam".G Venugopal is a postgraduate in Literature and Journalism from the Kerala University where he was the "Sarva Kalaa Prathibha" for five consecutive years from 1980 to 1985.He has sung this song with such a perfection and feel, that none can stop hearing it if once heard.
