I’m presenting a very nostalgic song from the most romantic singer in the Malayalam music world, Shri. P Jayachandran. The song “Manjalayil Mungi Thorthi” from the film “Kalithozhan (1966)” is his first song which was a huge hit and now also the song is living in the hearts of romantic youth.The lyrics is given by the Most Veteran P Bhaskaran Mashu. His words were moulded with Devarajan Master’s magical notes to give an all time favourite Jayachandran Hit.
Shri.P Jayachandran :A contemporary of the all time great Yesudas, who has ruled the South Indian music world for more than 40 years, P Jayachandran has carved his own style and till now has around 15000 recorded songs to his credit in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. Though not a classical singer, Jayachandran with his sweet and romantic voice has made light film music memorable with his immortal love songs which always tingle young hearts Jayachandran is considered to be the most suited and god-gifted singer of love songs and is fondly called the "Bhava Gayakan". For Jayachandran, age too has not been a barrier over the years of singing. Indeed his voice is getting younger with the passing of time just as love and music are ageless and his love songs are immortal creations of God.

This time I am presenting a sweet melody from the ever hit maker “G Venugopal”. Whenever a Keralite hears the name “G Venugopal”, the song “Unarumee Ganam” comes to his mind first. Such a haunting melody it is, that no one can stop hearing it, when once heard. The rich lyrics given by Sreekumaran Thampi and the elegant music given by the Maestro Ilayaraja combined with the sweet voice of Venu Chettan gave this ever memorable, ever haunting melody for Malayalam film industry. Venu Chettan won Kerala State Government Award for the best Play Back Singer in 1988.The song is from “Moonnam Pakkam”. I think its not necessary to write anything about this song, as everyone is familiar with this song. I’ve tried to bring that feel in this song and the judgement is Yours.

Here comes a "Super Fast" number from me. The song from the most energetic and melodious singer , M G Sreekumar. The song "Velmuruka" is from Lalettan's (Mohan Lal) Film, Naran. A real peppy number. Whenever Sri. M G Sreekumar sings for the legend Mohan Lal , the song becomes a huge hit. And the situation here is also not different. The combination of the Classmates (Mohan Lal And M G Sreekumar) has given many such hits to Malayalam Film Music.
The music of the song is done by Deepak Dev.This Song is the life of the album. It has a larger-than-appeal energy much like the film's hero Mohanlal. The beats are wholesome and heavy. M G Sreekumar's robust voice matches that.
The grant lyrics is given by the great lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri , who is one of the most eminent song writers in Malayalam who can impart any emotions in his words, whether its Romance, Sorrow, Pleasure, anything.And when the trio united, a very nice song got birth and when Mohan Lal joined with them , the song reached a great height in picturisation also.

In 1980, Kannadasan was not feeling well and was getting prepared to leave for Chicago for medical treatment. It was at this time that the film MOONRAM PIRAI was in the making. Ilayaraja sent for a song, and Kannadasan gave the song. That was the last song of the greatest poet the cine field had ever seen. As soon as Ilayaraja received the lyrics, he was overcome with untold sorrow. Ilayaraja himself is a writer of lyrics. He read and re- read the lyrics and sought to grasp the hidden meaning. Ilayaraja somehow had a premonition that this song would be the very last song from Kannadasan. He felt that Kannadasan had a message that he was leaving the Music lovers forever. That song was needed for a moving situation in the movie. In a very moving mood, Ilayaraja composed music for that song. And true enough Kannadasan never came back.This was the great poet's last song.
That last song of the poet brought crowning fame to Ilayaraja as the Music Director, Dasettan as the most appropriate singer, and by extension to Kamal Hasan as the one who provided lip movements. Dasettan had a great liking for this song.

Hi Friends , I'm presenting a Nostalgic Hindi song which is an all time hit. "Mere Sapnon Ki Rani" Kishore Da's one of the masterpieces from the film "Aradhana" .The song is a fast number enriched with Anand Bakshi Sir's Lyrics and S D Burman Sir's Music.
Anand Bakshi was born in Rawalpindi, now in Pakistan, on Monday, 21 July 1930. Anand Bakshi came to Bollywood to get a career for himself in singing but ended up becoming more successful in writing lyrics. He got his first break in films in 1956 when Bhagwan Dada signed him to write four songs for Brij Mohan’s Bhala Aadmi, from which he went on to work as a lyricist for over 300 films in the course of his life.He established himself as a versatile lyricist with the song Dum Maro Dum in the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1972). After this, he wrote memorable lyrics in many movies including Bobby and Amar Prem ,Sholay,Hum,Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,Taal,Mohabbatein, Gadar - Ek Prem Katha , to mention a few.Late in his life, he suffered from heart and lung disease as a consequence of life-long smoking. He finally died of organ failure on 30 March 2002 at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital, at the age of 72.The last released movie with lyrics by Anand Bakshi was Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin (2004).Bakshi received 40 Filmfare nominations, and won four Filmfare awards as best lyricist. The songs were:Aadmi Musafir Hain in Apnapan ,Tere Mere Beech in Ek Duje Ke Liye , Tujhe Dekha in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,Ishq Bina in Taal. Bakshi wrote the most lyrics -- for more than 250 movies -- with the music directors duo Laxmikant Pyarelal as the movies' composers.He won many Ruby Film Awards, Aashirwad Film Awards, Sushma Shama Awards, 3 Screen awards, and Zee & Stardust Hero Honda Awards.Bakshi won an award from the SPCA for his hard-hitting lyrics for the song Nafrat Ki Duniya Chhodke Pyar Ki Duniya Mein from the film Haathi Mere Saathi
S D Burman : Music director born in Tripura. Classical training by his father, sitarist and Dhrupad singer Nabadwipchandra Dev Burman; later with ustad Badal Khan and Bhishmadev Chattopadhyay. Early work for radio was based on East bengali and North eastern folk-music.In early 30s made a reputation in bengal as singer of folk and light classical music, e.g. at the Allahabad Sangeet Sammelan (Music Conference) in 1935. First record was of a Nazrul Islam composition.First film as singer: Tinkari Chakraborthy's Sanjher Pidim ; also acted in Dhiren ganguli's Bidrohi . Music director from 1939 onwards in Calcutta. Moved to Bombay and worked at Filmistan (Eight Days, Shabnam), Navketan (Afsar, Taxi Driver, Funtoosh, Guide) and for Guru Dutt (Baazi, Jaal, Pyaasa, Kagaz ke Phool). Remained Dev Anand's key composer for several years (Paying Guest, Tere Ghar ke Saamne, Jewel Thief, Prem Pujari). As a singer, his thin but powerful, accented voice was often used as a bardic commentary: e.g. the Wahan kaun hai tera musafir in Guide, Safal hogi teri aradhana in the hit Rajesh Khanna movie Aradhana. Wrote an autobiography: Sargamer Nikhad.
A man who can sing and dance, act and mimic, write and compose, make you laugh and cry all at one time,a person who lives by defying norms,a genius whose talent is immeasurable, Multi-faced, versatile, eccentric, sensitive - There has been only one such a man in Hindi filmdom, Kishore Kumar. Kishore Da was born on August 4, 1929.Since his childhood Kishore nurtured dreams of becoming a singer and following the footsteps of his idol K. L. Saigal. The young Kishore's real ambition was to become a playback singer and which became true, when, music director Khemchand Prakash called him to lend his voice for Dev Anand for the film Ziddi in 1948, the song was 'Marne Ki Duvayen Kyon Maangoon".He recorded his last song on october 12, 1987, a day before he died. Lata Mangeshkar's fond and fitting tribute best describes this great personality....."He was a sampoorna kalakar (the complete artist). He knew everthing. I call him India's Danny Kaye. Producer, Actor, Singer, Director, Lyricist, Composer....."

The beauty of Ravi Varma Paintings is brought to reality through Kavya Madhavan by Santhosh Sivan's camera. The real beautiful songs of Anandabhadram also played a vital role in bringing out the cherished hit.

With the thrilling romantic lyrics of Sri.Vayalar Rama Varma and the haunting music of Sri. G Devarajan and the evergreen voice of Dasettan , this song has found a permanent place in the hearts of youth.Even in this age of modern music with thundering Rock 'n Roll and Rap Music ,the soft music and smooth lyrics of this song is still possessing its place in the lips of each and every Keralite who loves Malayalam Music.
G Devarajan : Paravoor Govindan Devarajan, popularly known as G. Devarajan or Devarajan master has scored music for more than three hundred Malayalam Films, many dramas, twenty Tamil and four Kannada movies. Most of his compositions remain ever green classics in Malayalam. Besides, his music in the Tamil film 'Annai Velankanni' has received many accolades. Devarajan received Kerala Government's Best Music Director award for five times, among other honours.His first work which brought him to limelight was the drama song "Ponnarivaal ambiliye kanneriyunnoole".The first movie for which he composed music was Kaalam Maarunnu.His combination with Vayalar produced the golden era of Malayalam film music.Devarajan was the one who used maximum number of raagas in Malayalam film music.
Vayalar Ramavarma : a poet and lyricist. His works include Sargasangeetham, Mulankaadu, Padamudrakal, Aayisha, Oru Judas janikkunnu.He was awarded Kerala Sahithya Academy Award (Kerala literary academy award) in 1961--for Sargasangeetham, the President's gold medal for best movie song lyrics in 1974, and the Kerala state film award for best lyricist thrice. The Vayalar award for Malayalam literature, given on October 27 each year, was instituted in his memory.
Vayalar wrote about 2000 songs for 223 Malayalam movies, many of which reflect the sorrows and happiness of common man. Decades past his death, the movie songs he wrote are still popular among Malayalis. Among his most popular songs is the one he wrote for theatre, the KPAC naatakagaanam, "Balikudeerangalae".And the great lyricist passed away on 27-10-1975 leaving the hearts of keralites in deep sorrow.
Dr.K J Yesudas : The greatest South Indian musicians of all times, was born in Fort Cochin, Kerala, India. His father Mr. Augustine Joseph Bagavathor, was a well known malayalam classical musician and stage actor of his time . His mother, Mrs. Alikkutty Joseph, devoted her time and energy in bringing up her children. In his childhood Yesudas had to face a great deal of hardships because of the meager financial resources of his parents. His father could recognize the boy’s musical talent at a very young age and decided to provide him musical education at any cost. Augustine Bhagavathor himself was his first music Guru. The boy was taught the fundamentals of Carnatic music at the tender age of five. Indian music world soon began to witness the appearance of a new bright star in the horizon. Later several music teachers in and around Cochin gave him valuable guidance he was seeking. It is his passion for music, hard work and dedication that created the musical legend we call Yesudas or more intimately "Dasettan".He has already sung more than 30,000 songs for thousands of Indian films in various languages. In 1965, he was invited by the Soviet Government to perform music concerts in various cities of the U.S.S.R. Yesudas is the recipient of The Kerala State Playback Singing Award 16 times since 1970. The President of India conferred on him the coveted title of Padmashree in 1973. Other titles and prestigious awrds he has received include, `Sangeetha Raja' in 1974, `Sangeetha Chakravarthy' in 1988 and `Sangeetha Sagaram' in 1989. He received the award for the best playback singer for the year 1988 from Tamil Nadu Government and Andhra Pradesh Government respectively. Annamalai University honored him with a Doctorate in 1989. The Government of Kerala and `The Sangeeta Nataka Akademi' conferred the title of `Aashtana Gayakan’ – to Yesudas in 1992. The Government of Madhya Pradesh gave the `Annual Latha Mangeshkar Award’ to Sri Yesudas in 1992. Yesudas is the receipient of the 1991 National Award for the best Playback singer. This is the 6th National award that Yesudas has received. The 1992 Tamil Nadu State Government award for the best playback singer was given to Yesudas. For his unique contribution in the field of Music, he was selected for the prestigious NATIONAL CITIZENS AWARD in 1994.
